The health and well-being of children, youth, and families is critical to the growth and success of our community. This is why the Children’s Trust of Indian River County plans to fund an array of proven prevention, intervention and treatment programs for children prenatal through eighteen years of age.
Born Into Poverty
50% of babies born in Indian River County are born into poverty each year.
Food Insecurity
Over 60% of students in Indian River County are eligible to receive free & reduced lunch.
Low Birth Weight
14.5% of babies born in IRC each year are considered low birth weight or preterm.
Untreated Depression
64.7% of Florida’s youth with major depression did not receive mental health treatment in 2021.

Low-income children who attend quality preschools are more likely to graduate high school and attend college.
Economic Security
Adults who have completed early childhood education programs earn 7%-25% higher incomes than those who did not.
A Brighter Future
Children with pre-K education are 2.14 times less likely to be arrested and are 50% less likely to ever receive welfare as an adult.
For the Children
In the first year of the Children’s Trust, we project that $4,790,895 would be available to invest in Indian River County children.
This money will fund early childhood education, development, detection, prevention, and wellness services to expand and enhance current services and include more children.
